Derrick is an experienced attorney at Moorehead Law Office, LLC, with 15 years of dedicated practice in Muskingum County, Ohio, specializing in real estate law. A graduate of Ohio University and Ohio Northern University College of Law, Derrick has deep roots in Zanesville, where he has lived most of his life. Known for his expertise and commitment to client service, he is a trusted advisor in property transactions, land use, and other real estate matters.

Outside of his legal career, Derrick is a devoted husband to his wife, Jaci, and a proud father to their two children, Everly and Evan. He values quality time with family and friends, embracing the strong community ties that shape his life.

Ashton is a proud Zanesville native, Ohio State University graduate, and dedicated community member. She and her husband, AJ, are parents to three children: Grace, Gwynn, and Gavin. Between raising her family, Ashton finds joy in giving back through teaching and fitness. She substitute teaches in the West Muskingum schools and leads fitness classes at Southtown Gym, sharing her passion for health and education with others.

A former Ohio State Buckeyes cheerleader, Ashton graduated with a bachelor’s degree in arts and sciences. Today, she is thrilled to be part of Heroes Landing, excited to contribute to its growth and impact on lives in the community.

Molly Dunn

Executive Director | Strategic Leader in Education & Professional Development

As the Executive Director of the Impact Center, Molly leads a dedicated team focused on empowering students with essential 21st-century skills through high-quality professional development. With a mission to drive meaningful learning experiences, Molly works closely with educators, administrators, and industry partners to create programs that enhance critical thinking, collaboration, adaptability, and digital literacy among students.

In her role, Molly oversees strategic initiatives that align with the evolving demands of the workforce, ensuring that our approach remains innovative and impactful. Molly’s commitment is to cultivate a learning environment where students are not only prepared for success in their careers but are also equipped to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Mark Redfern

Army Veteran | Retired Utility Professional

A proud Crooksville native and Crooksville High School graduate (Class of 1972), Mark comes from a large Catholic family with 14 siblings. He is a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 101st Airborne Division, reaching the rank of Sergeant (E-5) by the age of 20. Following Mark’s military service, he spent 38 fulfilling years with American Electric Power, retiring at age 63.

Today, Mark is honored to join the board of Directors for Brave Beginnings, inspired by its impactful work in the community. After touring the facility and gaining a deeper understanding of the overwhelming need for support, Mark is eager to contribute to this dedicated team and help address pressing local and statewide challenges.

Ashlie Spiker

Accountant | Mother

Ashlie Spiker, a lifelong resident of Adamsville, enjoys a busy and fulfilling life with her husband, Andy, and their five children—Dylon, Kendal, Jase, Lexi, and Eden. A graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Ashlie brings 18 years of experience in public accounting to her career, where she applies her expertise with dedication and professionalism.

In addition to her professional work, Ashlie is deeply involved in her community. She actively participates in the Adamsville Community Progressive Council and Child Care Resources, using her time and skills to support meaningful local initiatives. When she’s not working or engaged in community service, Ashlie loves spending time golfing and enjoying quality time with her family and friends, embodying a wonderful balance between her career, family, and community.

Bill Bird

Professional Stained Glass Artist | Chef Consultant | Executive Chef

A versatile and accomplished professional with over 30 years of experience spanning the culinary arts and stained-glass artistry. Currently operating Bill’s Stained-Glass Studio in Zanesville, Ohio, where Bill creates custom stained-glass commissions, perform repairs, and conduct private classes. Bill’s stained-glass expertise combines craftsmanship with creative design, delivering unique pieces for a diverse clientele.

In addition to Bill’s artistry, he has an extensive background as a corporate chef consultant and executive chef, overseeing operations in hospitals, healthcare facilities, and private institutions. Bill has led food service programs, designed menus, managed dietary teams, and implemented purchasing and cost-control strategies. With a history of entrepreneurial ventures, including launching Billy Jim's Original BBQ Rub & Seasoning, his career reflects a commitment to innovation, quality, and service in every role.

Rick Walters

Retired Coil Coating Specialist | Grounds Volunteer | Outdoor Enthusiast

With a dedicated career spanning over 40 years in the coil coating industry, Richard brings a wealth of experience in manufacturing and industrial operations. After attending Brookhaven High School (1974-1976), he began his professional journey at Lumi-Lite Candle Co., later advancing his career at E.G. Smith/CENTRIA and other industry-leading businesses. Richard retired in October 2023, marking a long and successful career.

Today, he continues to stay active by volunteering on the grounds at JC Golf Course, where he combines his passion for the outdoors with hands-on work. An avid golfer, bowler, hunter, and fisherman, Richard also enjoys spending time gardening and cultivating his love for nature.
